Pastors John and April

Lead Pastors - Message from Pastor John

Pastors John & April Serio met in Bible College in Dallas, Texas. They have been married since 1992 and in ministry for 20 years. They have served as youth pastors, associate pastors, church planters, and senior pastors. They have served Springs Journey Church now for over 7 years and love this city of Colorado Springs. They have 3 beautiful children who love Jesus and have a passion for the kingdom of God and missions work. Jordan is married to their beautiful daughter-in-law Brooke and have two sons, Parke and Summit. Jonah is in Mexico serving as a missionary with a local church planting organization, and Coral goes to Pikes Peak Christian School.

John and April understand that God does things when two or more come together, that’s why they believe in team ministry. Pastor John has gifts in preaching/teaching, leadership, and building up the body of Christ. He has a passion to see people move into their God given destiny. April has a passion to see women built up into God's masterpiece and used of God for a grander purpose than simply to exist and survive in the world today.

Together, they have a passion to see the church of Jesus flourish and minister to people of every race, economic background, nationality, and upbringing regardless of religious affiliation. The vision of Springs Journey Church came from of a prayer walk in Breckenridge, CO where God spoke and said the vision is to, "serve people on life’s journey in developing intimate relationships with God, others, and themselves." The motto is simple, "Why walk alone?"

We love coming alongside others on their spiritual journey of discovering who Jesus is and how to live out their faith in a hurting, lonely community.

"We love God's church!"

Carol Sherrill

Church Administrator

Carol and her husband Jeff are both U.S. Air Force veterans. Combined, they have lived in four countries and seven states. Their travels have given them a deep appreciation for America.

They moved to Colorado Springs in October 2015 from Tucson, where Jeff retired from active duty. Their move to Colorado Springs in their words was “A total God thing. Colorado Springs was never on our radar.” Carol is thrilled and honored to be serving Springs Journey Church in office administration, and she is also a member of the Springs Journey worship team.

Springs Journey Church is excited to introduce Ben Johnson as our new Worship Director. Ben was born and raised in a Christian family in Park Forest Illinois and Dallas Texas. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Growing up he experienced many challenges that have ultimately strengthened his faith. After graduating from high school in 2011, he attended Christ for the Nations Institute before joining the U.S. Air Force reserves. He was stationed in Texas, Indiana, Mississippi and now Colorado.

After three years of reserve service, Ben decided to attend college to study music. He enrolled in Dallas Baptist University, and quickly met his wife Jewles Johnson. Jewles was born and raised in Plano Texas. She graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Ben and Jewles have always felt the call to ministry, and have been involved in worship in the past. Ben and Jewles found Springs journey in December of 2017, and have felt at home ever since. He and his wife accepted the Worship Director position, and are very excited to see God work in the lives of people in Colorado Springs.
